You Will Be Surprised: Read About What Can Happen If You Split A Pill In Half Before You Drink It!

A lot of people, whether chronic patients who take therapy every day or temporarily drink certain pills, take half a pill, in order to lower the dosage. However, this practice is not recommended by pharmacists.
Pills are coated for a reason, i.e. to avoid dissolution and effect of the pill in the stomach so that the mucus membrane of the stomach can be protected from the aggressive ingredients in the pill. So, for example, if you break an aspirin in half, the protective effects of the pill disappear. By breaking some pills, their pharmacological formulation distorts and the dosage is not equally divided, while in some, multicoated pills, with a complicated way of release of the cure, the complete effect of the pill is changed, followed by unpredictable effects. Moreover, some pills can be broken in half, usually the ones with an indented line, although this is not a 100% accurate sign that the pill can be divided in half. Therefore, it is for the best to break pills if this is stated in the pill’s instructions, or if the patients received this advice from their doctors of pharmacists.
