Dryer sheets go in the dryer to soften your clothes right? What if we tell you that there are like a million more ways you can use them, and that’s after you’ve already used them for their original purpose? If you throw out the dryer sheets after you’ve done drying your clothes you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Here are 10 alternative uses for dryer sheets you’ll absolutely love.

1. Scrub your bathroom

Used dryer sheets are excellent for removing soap residue which gets stuck in the shower basin and all around in your bathroom. You just need to do is wet a used dryer sheet with some water and the soap scum will practically slide off.

2. Remove burnt food residue from dishes

Put a fresh dryer sheet on the bottom of a dirty pan fill it with warm water and leave it during the night. It will be much easier to clean in the morning.

3. Remove static from everything

Dryer sheets are excellent for removing static from everything. Rub a dryer sheet through the bristles of the hairbrush and brush your hair, avoid static hair syndrome by rubbing a dryer sheet on the inside of your hats in winter, prevent static cling from pantyhose by rubbing a damp, used dryer sheet over them.

4. Dust and clean electronics

PC screens and TVs are electronically charged which makes them nearly impossible to dust, because they attract dust. Dryer sheets remove the static and dust at the same time, so they prevent the dust from settling again.

5. Remove pet hair from carpets and furniture

Dryer sheets are especially effective for pet hair removal. Swipe them over carpets, furniture, pillows to remove leftover pet hair.

6. Use them as rat and insect repellent

Scatter them around your basement, garage, boat house to repel skunks, mice, rats and squirrels. Place them on the rafts to prevent spiders and bugs from nesting.

7. Clean up dry spills

When you spill flour on the kitchen floor or counter it can be quite messy and difficult to clean up since it’s so fine. Flour sticks to the dryer sheet and it’s easy to wipe it out with it. It doesn’t work just on flour but on every dry spills or even short hair clippings.

8. Remove deodorant stains

Wipe your clothes with a dryer sheet to remove deodorant stains from them. This is a lifesaver in tight situations.

9. Freshen up your shoes and home

Place a dryer sheet in your shoes to minimize the bad odor and make your shoes smell as if you’ve just bought them. Never throw a used dryer sheet. Place them in gym bags, suitcases — even the bottom of trash cans, to keep odors at bay.

10. Substitute a Swiffer

It may take you a few layers of dryer sheets but you will be speechless when you see how well it will pick up the dust, dirt and hair of the floor. Just as good as or maybe even better than the Swiffer.
