Frankincense Oil Kills Cancer and Boosts Immunity

Frankincense oil is a type of essential oil obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia. It originates from India, Africa, and the Middle East. The oil of frankincense has potential health benefits and has been used very long time as aromatherapeutic. Also, the oil reduces inflammation, boost the immunity and prevent some dangerous infections. But a lot of the people are not aware of the cancer-fighting potential of frankincense oil.

Researchers from the Leicester University in the UK published that frankincense oil contains a potent anti-cancer chemical compound known as acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA for short). AKBA triggers the cells of cancer and kills them, without damaging healthy cells. Researchers from the Leicester University were able to prove that frankincense oil could be a safe alternative for women who suffer from ovarian cancer, even in late-stage cancer patients. Another study published the impact of frankincense oil on bladder cancer. It the study was proven that the oil can distinguish normal bladder cells from the cancer cells and induced cancer cells to commit suicide (a process known as apoptosis). Also, it has potential to suppress the growth of brain cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, prostate and stomach cancer.

Frankincense oil a natural cancer treatment

For many cancer patients, there are times when the conventional cancer treatment becomes worse than cancer itself. The evidence suggests that frankincense oil is not only a supplemental treatment to go along with chemotherapy and radiation but in many cases it may be used as an alternative chemotherapy agent. The reason for this is that frankincense oil shows significant effectiveness in a few areas where chemotherapy is not effective, particularly in patients who have ovarian cancer.

For example, brain cancer patients who experience cerebral edema (swelling of the brain) after the radiation are treated with corticosteroids (dexamethasone) to control the swelling. Unfortunately, these patients suffer from the toxic side effects from the drugs, including migraines, headaches, and even blurred vision.

The journal Cancer, in 2011 published the results of the clinical trial evaluating how the brain swelling was affected by frankincense oil. Approximately 60 % of the patients showed 75 % or greater reduction of brain swelling. These results are so astonishing that scientists urge to the doctors to prescribe frankincense oil instead of corticosteroids to the patients that undergo radiation treatment.

The oil of frankincense has great antiseptic activity, which make it ideal for supporting the immune system. A research published by Phytotherapy Research discovered that multiple levels of the immune system were stimulated (IgG, IgM, T-cells, cytokines, etc.).
