Unhealthy Food Cravings are a Sign of Mineral Deficiencies

Did you know that eating something you’ve been craving for doesn’t actually stop the craving?

You ask why?

Science has revealed that cravings for various unhealthy foods indicate that your body lacks minerals that could be found in those unhealthy foods. Nonetheless, whole foods are a much better option. In fact, only minerals from natural sources, which are optimized for great absorption, will finally end stop craving.

Chocolate — Magnesium

Recent statistics show that 80% of Americans lack magnesium, which is needed for over 300 biochemical reactions in human body. Magnesium is also referred to as the “relaxation mineral,” since irritability, insomnia, anxiety, and high blood pressure are the major symptoms that indicate its deficiency.

This explains why magnesium-deficient individuals feel a great relief after eating a chocolate bar. Little amounts of the mineral in chocolate relaxes them. However, processed chocolate is not a healthy source.

You should eat plenty of seeds, nuts, dark leafy greens, beans, fish, and black strap molasses, all of which are rich sources of magnesium. They’ll help you combat chocolate craving.

Sugary foods — Carbon,Chromium,  Sulfur, Phosphorus,  and/or Tryptophan

High sugar foods is the most complex craving, given that it’s occasioned by at least five vital nutrients:

Chromium – regulates blood sugar levels
Phosphorous – stimulates energy production

Carbon – one of the components of sugar

Sulfur – removes toxins

Tryptophan – regulates serotonin

To deal with sugar cravings, you need to implement some changes in your diet, and re-mineralize your body.

Refined Carbohydrates — Nitrogen

Nitrogen compounds are found in protein and nucleic acid. As such, nitrogen deficiencies normally lead to malnutrition related to the protein deficiency.

Therefore, whenever you crave for a nice spaghetti dish, consider making yourself a nitrogen-rich meal instead. While most foods contain nitrogen in its organic or non-organic form, vegetables and fruits are the richest sources of nitrogen.

Other Cravings

Here are other less common cravings that still concern health experts:

Oily and Fatty Foods cravings indicate that your body is deficient of calcium. Eat more cheese, raw milk, broccoli, and turnip greens.

Ice craving indicates that you need more iron. Eat plenty of meat, black strap molasses, leafy greens, and sea vegetables.

Salty Food craving indicates that you need more chloride or silicon. Eat more nuts, seeds, and fish.a
