This Painful Condition Affects Millions of Women, and No One Talks About It

Lots of women have vaginismus, usual female condition about which they rarely talk. This condition causes involuntary tension or spasm of the vaginal muscles, or “vaginal panic attack” and prevents vaginal penetration. Most of the women who have this problem are ashamed to talk about it, and because of that they do not know that it can be treated.

Millions of women suffer silently, because they are too ashamed to ask someone for help, warn the gynecologists.

Doctor Gita Venkat says that many women have vaginismus, but it’s very rare someone to talk about it. This disorder causes involuntary gathering of vaginal muscles and thus prevents penetration, inserting of tampons and gynecological examination.
It’s estimated that millions of women around the world suffer from this condition, and Dr. Venkat says that women shouldn’t be silent, but to ask for help.

– Vaginismus is a very personal issue for many women, because it affects their self-confidence. But although it’s rare, vaginismus can be lessened if treated in the right way. If you want to have a family, you have to seek for help – he explains.

Vaginismus occurs as a result of the involuntary reflex of the muscle, which is connected to the vagina. Then the muscle and the tissue suddenly strain, preventing any kind of vaginal penetration

– Very often can occur by sudden pain – the body responds to the pain and the vaginal muscles are automatically tightened in order to protect themselves. The fear itself can be the cause of the tightening. Sex is then either painful and unpleasant or impossible – says Dr. Venkat.
The treatments are performed by a sexual therapist or a behavioral therapist who discovers the triggers that create the problem.

– You have to spend more time on getting to know yourself. Use a lubricant that will help you to relax and achieve greater sexual pleasure – explains the doctor.

Although this disorder cannot be completely cured, it can be significantly alleviated. Go to your gynecologist and together you will find the right solution.
