If you have family members who like to “take out” coins behind the ear or to fool you that they “fell off” thumb, then you’ve saw this illusion before.

If you take a roll of paper and look through it with one eye while the other looking at your hand, it will look like you have a hole in your hand!

But what’s really going on here? Vanessa Hill explains that it is illusion caused by something called binocular rivalry.

“Two different images are shown two different eyes. If your brain can not combine these two images, it just pushes the image in one eye, and your other eye becomes dominant, “she said.

“In this case, your hand will be suppressed because the weaker stimulant.”
