Conjoined twins separated in ground breaking 12-hour operation using 3D printer technology

3D printing is now saving people’s lives; in a groundbreaking operation in China, surgeons have used this technology to separate a pair of five-month-old conjoined twins.
The twins were joined at the abdomen and shared a liver. So, surgeons at the Children’s Hospital in Shanghai used the cutting edge 3D modeling and printing technology to build models of the conjoined body parts.

And after a grueling 12-hour operation, the twins were successfully separated. They are now placed in intensive care where they are reunited with their anxious parents.
