Doctors Warn: Inserting Herbal Products Into the Vagina Can be Very Dangerous!

More recently, women started seeking for natural remedies, or tried out herbal treatments in order to cure medical conditions including HPV infection. However, gynecologists urge caution when using alternative medicines. The so-called vaginal detoxification is becoming more and more popular among women nowadays.
The herbal treatments are introduced as “folk remedies’’, that usually involve inserting various herbal preparations into the vagina, dripping essential oils onto a pad and inserting bags of perfumed herbs that are designed to cleanse the womb.
Herbal suppositories which can be bought in pharmacies are completely safe, because they have been tested for vaginal use, but other herbal products are far from being harmless, the Independent reports.
Some of these herbal remedies supposedly treat ovarian cysts, endometriosis or HPV. The company claims that by using herbal detox products the vaginal canal will shrink, the womb will return to a balanced state by flushing out toxins etc.

Doctors warn that such products can interfere with the vaginal natural balance, damaging the good bacteria which lead to increased risk of getting an infection. On the other hand, it is proven that herbal suppositories can be a good ally in the antibiotic therapy, but they should not be the only remedies for serious medical conditions.
Dr Gunter, an American gynecologist wrote in her blog that the majority of plant products and extracts are irritating and certainly none of the claimed contents have been tested for vaginal use.
– Your uterus isn’t tired or depressed or dirty and your vagina has not misplaced its chakra – she mockingly referred to the claims by which the alternative medicine retailers lure buyers.
Describing the vagina as like a ‘self-cleaning oven,’ she explained how inserting herbs into the vagina for too long can be ‘dangerous and smelly’. Moreover it can increase the risk of infections, the growth of bad bacteria resulting in toxic shock syndrome, which is usually linked to long-term holding of tampons.
