Alleged Starbucks dead rat “victim” reportedly suffers from leptospirosis

MANILA, Philippines. Jessa, the woman who accused Starbucks of serving coffee containing a dead rat, is now suffering from leptospirosis, according to one of her friends.

A certain Clarisse Crisologo decided to shed light on her friend’s health condition through a Facebook post on Saturday, January 30. According to Crisologo, Jessa currently has full-blown leptospirosis which she reportedly got from the Starbucks drink in question. She also took time to defend her friend from accusations that the incident was staged.

Crisologo also urged netizens to stop bashing Jessa as this will not benefit them.

According to Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC), leptospirosis is a bacterial disease affecting humans and animals. Caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira, this disease may or may not cause symptoms in infected humans. If left untreated, leptospirosis may lead to kidney damage, meningitis, liver failure, respiratory distress, or even death.

Some symptoms of leptospirosis include headache, high fever, chills, muscle aches, vomiting, jaundice, red eyes, abdominal pain, rashes, and diarrhea. This usually lasts few days to three weeks or even longer. Its incubation period is two days to three weeks.
