Mother saved life of her son because she asked for a second opinion

Yesina Torres sitting by the cot of monthly son Angel and sees his beautiful smile thanks to the fact that was not ready to give up hope.

She says:

When I was pregnant in 21st week they said it was better to end a pregnancy.

Yesina received such a recommendation after the doctors saw that in the chest of Angel grow large mass. They say that as a result probably will not be able to breathe and that the continuation of pregnancy may put at risk her life.

Mother unable to reconcile with such an attitude, decided to ask a second opinion and went to Dr. Jane Chueh, an expert in fetal medicine at Stanford.

The doctor pronounced for ABC11:

Mandatory we did not know if it will be successful. Considering the space that was occupied by the tumor lesion, would not have thought that the baby could survive … but nevertheless we did according to plan.

The plan was to perform a double operation, one part was to be the birth and immediately afterwards immediate removal of the tumor.

Double operation was launched in the 34th week of pregnancy.

It happened so quickly that the mother did not had the opportunity to see her son until the operation was completed:

-As soon as it was born was taken to surgery, so I could not see him until the next morning.

Angel survived surgery and the next morning she saw him – which meant that the operation was successful.

The operation was performed by three doctors and once the tumor was removed, Angel finally was able to independently take their first breath.

Now he is breathing normally and doctors say they will soon go home and have a normal life. Something that no one expected, except his mother!

She says:

It was hard, but I thought it was possible, you know sometimes doctors make mistakes. I wake up and come to him every day thanks to God that we are here.

Doctors however, that have saved the life of the baby say that are happy of the successfully saved life
