She Had To Visit A Doctor Because Of Extreme Bad Breath, The Cause Was Unbelievable!

We know a number of causes that could lead to bad breath. You don’t ever expect your bad breath problem to turn into something painful. But there are people who do suffer from pain when they swallow food.

It is common to come across people who have kidney stones. But that is not the only body part where stones can form. Stones can also form within your mouth.
Tonsil Stones
These stones are known as tonsil stones or tonsilloliths. They form when dead cells, foods, mucus and/or bacteria enter the cavities and openings which are meant to be filled with tonsils. These substances can become harder or calcify with time.

The disturbing fact about these tonsil stones is that they are quite common and most people don’t know about them. And there is a good chance that you may also have them. They often form if you repeatedly suffer from tonsillitis. You are also likely to have them if you have lots of nooks and crannies in your mouth.

The reason it is difficult to notice them is because they usually form behind the tonsils. According to a study conducted over 150 subjects, tonsil stones were found in 24% of the people. Other studies have reported both higher and lower percentages.

Most of the time these stones are so small that you don’t have to worry about them. But with time they can become large and start causing problems like bad breath, ear pain, or sore throats. The sites could become feeding ground for different kinds of bacteria and the excretions by these microbes can further deteriorate the bad breath problem.
Treatments for Tonsil Stones
If you have small tonsil stones, you can use simple methods such as salt water gargling, mouth wash, or popping your mouth with cotton swab. But if the condition becomes serious you may have to undergo tonsillectomy in which the tonsil is smoothed out.

If you suffer from this problem, you will have much more than just bad breath. This can turn into something more serious. So if you notice anything that seems like tonsil stones, make sure to consult a throat or nose doctor.
